Welcome to the beautiful country of Slovenia! On a rainy day in August, we left a sleepy Italian border city for a fairytale. You think I am exaggerating? Maybe just peruse a few more of these photos and we can talk again at the end of this post.
The day’s itinerary:
Gorizia ➝ Lake Bled ➝ Ljubljana
Teasing aside, our country drive to Lake Bled took us through small villages perched on the tops of mountains, with sheep grazing, rain drizzling and me in the back seat transfixed by the beauty of every corner. The Lake Bled rain gave the experience all the more enchantment for this princess wannabe.
Although the rain was magical, our experience with the New Zealand rain (we were caught in a torrential downpour cutting short the promising life of Ryan’s iPhone 5S one month into our trip), made us hesitant to get out of the car at first. So we staled. We circled the lake a few times until the rain miraculously let up. Then, we illegally parked, jumped out of the car and snapped a few pictures before the rain began again.
Lake Bled should be on your European bucket list. It has now been added to mine three more times so I can see it in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
So, did you buy the Slovenia Lake Bled fairytale?
