Phang Nga Bay

Our time in the south of Thailand was a bit of a mishmash. Bouncing around from one beach to the next, but always using Phuket as a home base.

During one of our jaunts away from Phuket, we chose to go to Railay Beach, and here we were reminded of the importance of TripAdvisor. In Railay Beach, we made the mistake of taking a budget tour to see seven islands (more to come on Railay later). I say mistake because this particular tour company jam packed people onto a boat, took us to jelly fish infested waters, and then chose to turn off the lights during the cruise home, inviting a cockroach to run up my leg. So after that gem of an experience, we decided to go back to TripAdvisor when visiting James Bond Island with my parents. BTW, did I mention my mama and daddy-o flew to Thailand to spend ten days with Ryan and I? Yes, I am one lucky girl!

Based on phenomenal TripAdvisor reviews, we chose to use Two Seas Tour group to visit Phang Nga Bay, most famous for James Bond Island. All four of us loved this tour. The food was wonderful, our guide spoke English flawlessly, and the food was delicious. Our first stop was at Panak Island, where we went kayaking into a cave and then explored the internal lagoon. The Mangrove Trees within the lagoon were just stunning. The way their roots twisted and turned was so intriguing.

We then visited Hong Island. We kayaked most of Hong Island and had the entire area to ourselves to explore. Also, as an FYI, every group of two is paired with a guide to help them navigate their kayak! It felt a little excessive for Ryan and I, but after being in the sun for twenty minutes, we were happy to have help.

Lastly we visited James Bond Island. Unfortunately, the lighting during the time of day that we visited was a little harsh, so we were unable to capture a ton of photos but we loved our James Bond Island experience nonetheless. Best advice I can give, is that when planning a day trip, ALWAYS consult TripAdvisor. It has never led us wrong!

  1. Oh no, the “budget” tour sounds like a nightmare, but I’m glad the second tour went well! And how awesome that your parents came to spend time with you in Thailand!

    • Shea, it really was haha! But it was a good reminder to use tripadvisor…luckily I did not get stung by the jelly fish, so it could have been a lot worse!

  2. Those tree roots are just incredible, nature never ceases to amaze me! ‘James Bond island’, haha I love the mention – anything James Bond is good in my book.. take me there immediately! These images are all incredible, the kind that you often see floating around the internet with everyone going ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ along the way :)
