I have a slight confession. I have lived in the Bay Area for seven years, and this is the first time I have ever been to Santa Cruz. Yep, first time. It was a beautiful and warm Sunday morning and Ryan and I were settling in to spend the day binge watching TV. After about 20 minutes of watching Netflix, we realized, we needed to be outside. So we packed up our things and off we went…to the Patagonia store? Yes, you read that correctly. We packed up and left to go on a grand adventure to the Patagonia outlet. Nothing like a Sunday morning drive to go shopping, amirite? So we mosey our way down the California coast, winding down some of the most beautiful stretches of freeway I have ever seen. Once we arrived at the outlet, Ryan enjoyed looking at everything. In case I had not mentioned, Patagonia, is Ryan’s most beloved brand, hence the one and a half our drive to their outlet.

After shopping, we decided to save face and continue our drive down to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The weather was still perfect and I loved how my colorful spring forward dress accented my surroundings! Seriously, nothing is more fun than being dressed appropriately for a jaunt down south! We ate lunch along the boardwalk at this tasty Thai restaurant and then just meandered through the Boardwalk. The smells of cotton candy, pop corn, fried everything is exactly how a theme park should be and what I was hoping for when I visited Coney Island last December. After exploring the Boardwalk, we decided to head towards UC Santa Cruz and check out the campus and wow. I thought Berkeley was pretty, UC Santa Cruz is so green, with gorgeous trees so tall you can hardly see the sky. It is an enchanting campus, it almost looked like a real life Forks, from Twilight (and that was not an insult to UCSC peeps!). Suffice it to say, visiting Santa Cruz should be top on your California tourism list!

  1. I was going to say that the backdrop is the perfect amount of color for this cute dress. It looks like so much fun there! I always think of the Thrills song about Santa Cruz when ever anyone mentions it. California coast is so beautiful.

  2. Such a great backdrop for outfit photos. I would love to live near a beach, I would probably be there every day. My dad lives near Ocean City but hasn’t been there since I was little. lol Love your floral print dress. So pretty

    • Thank you Julie. I love the beach and only once in my life I have not lived close to a body of water and I think after that experience, I realized how much I love the sound of the ocean. It is just so relaxing! I just read your post on budgeting and loved it! Thank you for sharing.
