Close your eyes for a minute. When you hear ‘Banana Republic’, what do you see? Do you imagine khakis? Sweaters? Silk blouses? I hear this brand name and I think ‘conservative’ and ‘safe’… pieces that are almost right in color and texture, but with shapes just not young and hip enough to be worth a purchase. For several years BR has not exactly catered to the young, fashionable crowd; rather, most people associate them with business professional attire.
In the memorable words of Samuel L. Jackson in Jurassic Park, hold onta ya butts. Banana Republic is about to throw you for a loop ladies. Last week Chelsea and I had the pleasure of attending a launch party at BR’s flagship store in the fashion district downtown. This was a first-look at their new line, featuring much more youthful and chic clothing. BR has gracefully transitioned from reserved business-wear to a younger, edgier style while still staying true to their classic roots. Bravo BR!
Yesterday Chelsea shared the fabulous new two-tone skirt she scored at the launch (I had a feeling she might end up with it after we snapped the picture above!), but it doesn’t stop at skirts folks. I second her in saying get yourself over to BR this week to score some fabulous new finds. Jackets, t-shirts, jewelry… BR has redone it all. We were so busy ooh-ing and aah-ing over the new stuff I hardly took any pictures; click on over to Banana Republic online to see all they have to offer. Here are a few of my favorites so far:
Well done Banana Republic. It was so fun getting to experience the new brand launch and I’m happy to report you’ll see me at BR much more often these days. #inwiththenew
